Andrea Maack

Visual artist Andrea Maack has been creating avant-garde fragrances based on her drawings, ideas, and exhibition concepts since 2009. Her initial fragrances were not designed for wearing but were meant to enhance her art installations. Born in Reykjavik in 1977, Maack's earliest childhood memories are of the distinctive scents of the Icelandic coast. Her first perfume recollection was of Chanel's Cristalle, which transported her imagination to Paris during her childhood. After working in fashion in London and running an alternative boutique in Reykjavik, Maack pursued art, eventually delving into creating fragrances inspired by her drawings.

Maack's graphic works are characterized by radial arrangements of monochromatic or colored lines that create a unique visual rhythm. Her transition into the world of fragrance began when she incorporated scent into her exhibitions, first with "SMART," then with "CRAFT," and "SHARP," each accompanied by a specially formulated fragrance. Inspired by these successes, Maack officially launched her perfume brand in 2009, starting with the scents "Smart," "Craft," and "Sharp." Collaborating with perfumers, Maack developed fragrances that mirrored her drawings and concepts, creating a multisensory experience for exhibition visitors.

Over the years, Maack's brand expanded its fragrance collection with scents like "Silk" and "Dark," curated to embody the essence of delicate fabrics and seductive allure, respectively. "Coal," Maack's sixth fragrance, captured the mineral feel of charcoal, reflecting a masculine aesthetic. Subsequent releases like "Coven" drew inspiration from horror films and Yves Saint Laurent collections, offering a whimsical journey from city life to enchanted forests.

Today, Maack resides in Milan, continuing to explore the intersection of art, fragrance, and storytelling in her unique olfactory creations.
