Goutal

Annick Goutal's life was a series of unexpected turns that ultimately led her to her true calling as a perfumer. Born in 1945 to a prominent Parisian confectioner, she initially pursued a career as a classical pianist, displaying remarkable talent from a young age. However, after rebelling against the strict demands of her training, she found herself in London as a successful model. Despite the glamour and recognition, she felt unfulfilled, longing for the discipline and passion she had for music. Returning to Paris, Annick dabbled in various professions, including working as an antique dealer, before embarking on a new venture in natural cosmetics production. It was during this period, amidst a battle with breast cancer, that she discovered her true talent for perfumery. Enrolling in an apprenticeship at the prestigious Robertet perfume house in Grasse, she honed her skills and opened her first boutique in Paris in 1981. Annick Goutal's exquisite and artistic fragrances quickly gained popularity, leading to a partnership with Taittinger in 1985 and successful expansion into the international market. Tragically, she passed away in 1999 at the age of 54, leaving behind a legacy that her daughter, Camille Goutal, and Isabelle Doyen continue today. They serve as the perfumers and creative directors of the brand, carrying on Annick Goutal's vision with dedication and innovation.
