Maison Margiela

Maison Martin Margiela, a fashion brand with its origins rooted in Belgium, was founded by Martin Margiela, who honed his skills at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp and as an assistant to Jean-Paul Gaultier. Later, as the chief designer for women's fashion at Hermès, Margiela established his eponymous fashion house in collaboration with a retailer from Brussels. The brand's unique approach to fashion is evident in various aspects of its presentation. Models often walk the runway masked, and in catalogs, their faces are obscured with black bars, maintaining an air of anonymity. Maison Martin Margiela intentionally eschews a conventional logo, choosing instead to use four stitches of basting thread as its distinctive signature on garments. Reflecting Margiela's personal aesthetic, white is prominently featured throughout the brand, including the headquarters in Paris and the first fragrance named "(untitled)." This minimalist approach, characterized by simplicity and a lack of distractions, encapsulates the ethos of Maison Martin Margiela.
