Historical accounts mention how French king Charles VIII was presented with perfumed violet gloves. By the 17th century, Parisian "gantiers parfumeurs" were known for crafting scented gloves using aromatic oils, musk, amber, and civet. Even the renowned perfume house Rancé 1795 initially focused on perfumed gloves before transitioning to fragrance production and becoming the supplier to Napoleon's court in Grasse. In the early 17th century, individuals who mastered the art of perfuming gloves were granted the prestigious title of "Maître Gantier Parfumeur" by the French king.
