Michael Cromer, born in 1939, was destined to be an economist but found his true calling in the vibrant party scene of Munich in the early 1970s. Starting with a hairdressing salon in 1972, Cromer gained attention by gifting handmade cosmetic bags to his clientele, attracting VIPs and influencers to his establishment. This marked the beginning of Peter Michael Cromer's foray into the world of fashion. By 1975, "MCM" introduced its first line of upscale suitcases, bags, and accessories, all crafted in a signature style. Leveraging his connections in the Munich social scene, Cromer showcased his designs at fashion fairs and officially founded "MCM" in 1977, transitioning away from his hairdressing roots to focus on the burgeoning brand. Expanding rapidly, "MCM" made its mark with the launch of its first women's fragrance in 1984, followed by a men's fragrance in 1986. With a growing array of fragrances, luggage, bags, and a network of boutiques, "MCM" rose to prominence as a leading fashion label globally in the early 2000s.
