Nina Ricci

Originating from the creative mind of Italian Maria Adélaide Nielli, Nina Ricci is a legendary fashion brand and couture house based in Paris. Born in Turin in 1883, Nielli moved to France in 1895 and began her journey towards becoming a renowned dressmaker. In 1904, she tied the knot with jeweler Luigi Ricci and juggled motherhood with her unwavering passion for fashion. Transitioning from an employee to a fashion entrepreneur, Nielli launched Nina Ricci with the support of her husband, establishing her first atelier. Catering primarily to the upper-class French society, the brand delighted its clientele with luxurious materials, intricate details, and distinctly feminine designs that perfectly encapsulated the style of the early 20th century. Despite facing challenges like the Great Depression and World War II, Nina Ricci's success endured. Following the war, the business was taken over by Nielli's son, Robert Ricci, who elevated the brand's global stature. Under his leadership, Nina Ricci ventured into the world of fragrances, introducing iconic scents like "Coeur Joie" (1946) and "L'Air du Temps" (1948). In the late 1950s, Nielli retired from the fashion scene, passing the reins entirely to her son. Robert Ricci continued to steer Nina Ricci until 1998 when the brand was acquired by the Spanish fashion and perfume house "Puig S.L.", ushering in a new chapter for this esteemed fashion legacy.
