Caron

The timeless brand of Caron perfumes has a rich and fascinating history that spans over a century. In 1904, the Daltroff brothers purchased the Parisian perfumery "La Maison Emilia" from Anne-Marie Caron, inspired by the beauty of the name Caron. Ernest Daltroff, a chemist and self-taught perfumer, became the creative force behind the brand. Despite initial setbacks, success came when he met and fell in love with Félicie Wanpouille, who became his partner in both life and business. Félicie Wanpouille played a crucial role in the company as the head of marketing, designing flacons, creating advertising campaigns, and naming the perfumes. Together, they created revolutionary fragrances that captured the spirit of their time. "Narcisse Noir" (1911), dedicated to the silent film star Gloria Swanson, redefined femininity and sensuality. "Tabac Blond" (1919) embraced the image of the emancipated smoking woman, and "En Avion" (1929) paid tribute to pioneering female aviators. Despite the challenges of World War II and the exile of Ernest Daltroff, Félicie Wanpouille kept the brand alive until her passing in 1967. In the 1980s, Romain Ales revitalized Caron, leading the iconic house back to success. Today, Caron continues to enchant fragrance lovers with its timeless, elegant perfumes that honor the brand's rich history and legacy.
