About Aromifo

Aromifo is a perfume encyclopedia: notes, accords, ratings and reviews for 185,000+ fragrances from 12,000+ designer and niche houses. It is built for one question: what is this perfume like, and is it any good?

What every perfume page shows

  • The notes pyramid: top, heart and base notes.
  • The main accords, sized by how many people voted for each one.
  • Rating distributions for scent, longevity and sillage on a 1 to 10 scale.
  • Season and gender votes: when people wear it, and who wears it.
  • Similar perfumes and written reviews.

How ratings work

Signed-in members rate each perfume from 1 to 10 for scent, longevity and sillage, and vote on seasons, gender and accords. The score shown on a perfume page is the average scent rating, next to the number of ratings behind it. The charts show every vote, so you can see whether opinions agree or split.

How "best" lists are ranked

Ranked lists, such as the best perfumes for a note or a brand, sort by a weighted average. Each perfume's rating is blended with the site-wide average as if it had 50 extra average votes, so a perfume with a few dozen perfect scores does not outrank one rated 8.5 by thousands. Lists only include perfumes with at least 20 ratings.

How similar perfumes are chosen

Every perfume is compared on up to five signals. Community accord votes weigh the most, followed by notes, where rare notes count more than common ones like musk. Note families, seasons and the men, women or unisex leaning make up the rest.

The brand is never used, so a match from another house is as likely as one from the same house. When a perfume has no data for a signal, that signal is skipped instead of counted as zero.

Reviews

Reviews are written by members about their own experience with a perfume. Fake, misleading or paid reviews are not allowed (see the Terms of Service).
