Originally intended to be named "X", the brand opted for the pronounced letter "X" due to its proximity to plus and below sizes like XL and XS. The first children and teenagers collection, IKKS Junior, was curated by Le Goff alongside stylist Sonia Provost and partner Viviane Peigné in 1987. The brand opened its first store in 1993, expanding to include the cutting-edge women's collection, IKKS Women, just six years later. Collaborating with a French fashion group in 2000 enabled the brand to branch out into shoes, bags, and fragrances.
