Mäurer & Wirtz
The fragrance brand "Mäurer & Wirtz" traces its roots back to 1845 when Michael Mäurer and his stepson Andreas August Wirtz established a soap factory in Stolberg (NRW). The success of their curd and soft soaps led to the production of washing powder in 1884. By 1889, a new, modern factory was built, equipped with innovative technology like lye boilers and steam heating, which boosted sales from 1901 onwards. The brand's expanding customer base led to mass production in 1913, with additional production facilities constructed, including rail connections. Post-World War II, "Mäurer & Wirtz" facilities were utilized by the pharmaceutical company "Chemie Grünenthal" for pharmaceutical production. In 1990, the brand transitioned to "Mäurer & Wirtz GmbH & Co. KG" with Hermann Wirtz at the helm. Known for iconic creations like "Tosca," "4711," "Sir Irish Moss," "Nonchalance," "Baldessarini," "Windsor," and "Tabac Original," "Mäurer & Wirtz" also develops fragrances for labels such as "Otto Kern" and "s.Oliver." Evolved from a soap factory into a global brand renowned for its exquisite fragrances, "Mäurer & Wirtz" offers a diverse range of scents for all occasions, in addition to men's grooming products and cosmetics. Their products are distributed in leading drugstores, perfumeries, select online outlets, and the official "Mäurer & Wirtz" website.
