Myrurgia
In 1916, Ramón Monegal established the Myrurgia company in Barcelona, focusing on perfumes, amidst an emerging Spanish perfume industry with Perfumeria GAL as the primary competitor. The company's signature scent, "Colonia 1916," led to subsequent successful fragrances like "Promesa" and "Maderas de Oriente." "Maja" became their iconic fragrance in 1918, adored for its association with a renowned Spanish flamenco dancer. Under Esteve Monegal Prat's leadership, Myrurgia thrived and introduced various fragrances, including "Orgia," "Suspiro de Granada," and "Joya." As Myrurgia's legacy continued with Esteve's son, Esteban, the brand's success peaked in the 1950s and 1960s. Ramón Monegal Maso, the fourth-generation descendant, joined Myrurgia in 1972 and eventually launched his own brand, RM, in 2009, known for its exclusive fragrances. Myrurgia's influence extended through licensing partnerships with renowned brands like Massimo Dutti, Adolfo Dominguez, and Julio Iglesias. Despite transitions over the years, with Myrurgia being sold to Puig in 2001, Ramón Monegal Maso's commitment to crafting exceptional fragrances never wavered. After departing from Puig in 2008, he established his eponymous brand in 2009. The brand's dedication to exquisite perfumes is evident in its Barcelona flagship store, hailed as a "perfume temple." "Maja," a beloved fragrance, found a new home in Mexico in 2012. An exhibition showcasing Myrurgia's creativity from 1916 to 1939 at the Museo Nacional d'Art de Catalunya in 2003 highlighted the brand's lasting impact on the world of perfumery.
