Established in 1994 by Till Lindemann, Richard Kruspe, Oliver Riedel, Christoph Schneider, and Paul Landers, all of whom had previous musical experience, the band quickly gained recognition for their innovative sound. Following initial performances in intimate venues, they secured their first record deal in the same year, adopting the name "Rammstein", a nod to the Ramstein Air Base. Rammstein's music style is a complex blend of classic hard rock and alt-metal, characterized by raw, aggressive tones. Their live performances are renowned for their intense pyrotechnic displays, adding to the raw energy of their music. One aspect that consistently sparks controversy around Rammstein is their provocative lyrics, drawing inspiration from literary classics like Mackie Messer and the Erlkönig.
