ViaDeiMille, an exclusive perfume label hailing from Italy, was founded by Stefano Alderuccio. Originally from Siracusa and now residing in France, Stefano collaborated with his brother Gianluca, a creative director and designer based in Milan, and French perfumer Jacques Chabert to revive the art of perfumery started by their family in the picturesque town of Noto, Sicily during the 1950s. The fragrant journey of ViaDeiMille began in the quaint town of Noto, where Salvatore Scorsonelli initiated the production of flower essences, notably the zagara, the delicate and intoxicating blossom of the bitter orange tree. Situated on Via dei Mille, right in front of Salvatore's home in a charming Sicilian garden adorned with jasmine, almond, and citrus trees, stood the distillery where he meticulously crafted one of the finest floral oils for perfume creation using steam distillation. The essence made its way to Grasse, France, a renowned hub for the perfume industry. In 2011, Stefano, Salvatore's grandson, embarked on a journey to unravel the mysteries behind his grandfather's perfumery and explore the possibility of reigniting this passionate endeavor. Reminiscing about childhood adventures in his grandparents' garden, Stefano was inspired to revive the legacy of the abandoned distillery on Via dei Mille, setting off on a quest across Grasse, Paris, Florence, and back to Sicily in pursuit of authentic Sicilian ingredients and skilled artisans. ViaDeiMille is not only a testament to a rich family legacy but also an odyssey of revival, camaraderie, exploration, and reverence for ancestral heritage and innovative ideas.
